About

ArtX NonProfits is an artist-driven 501(C)3 non-profit, dedicated to fostering creativity through workshops, build projects and showcase events for those whose access to traditional creative pursuits and learning experiences is limited.

ArtX NonProfits launched with a bang in 2009 producing GlowOrama,  a community-wide illuminated event  showcasing art vehicles in a uniquely Houston way - brilliantly lighted and blowing fire!  Fire balls, glowing art cars and sparkling performers rollicked through Discovery Green to join the lights bouncing off the walls of the George R. Brown Convention Center creating a spectacular explosion of light and sound.  These advanced art cars fuse technology and art, often featuring kinetic parts, exotic lighting and even pyrotechnics. ArtX has since expanded to include other technologically driven artistry and performances and has worked with governmental agencies to garner approval for these performances including Fire Dancing and the spectacular FireCracker Hat Dances.

Following the success of GlowOrama, ArtX has been invited to illuminate many events, both public and private. Fire Dancers and LED spinners dancing amongst illuminated vehicles and flaming sculptures makes quite a show!  Our artists can also create unique flame effects or sculptures designed specifically for your venue.   These artists can illuminate any event - from flames to high tech LED!

In conjunction with these new community events, ArtX launched workshops to teach the advanced aspects of art vehicle building to include lighting and special effects.  In 2014, ArtX expanded its offerings with group build projects and workshop series' to help creatives complete their mobile art projects under expert artist guidance. In 2015 ArtX introduced a membership that includes discounts to workshops and events, and access to studio space to facilitate build projects.  We began artist-led build teaching projects with the creation of TunaTron followed by the Churnatron in 2016.

In 2016 ArtX launched the Women Who Weld program to encourage women, young and old, to learn and practice a skill typically attributed to males. This program has been so successful that it has expanded to include youths and novices of any gender and age. In 2017 the WWW and their team created our most ambitious art vehicle to date -TempleTrip - a ground-up creation incorporating metal arts, fire arts, illumination, engineering, design and mechanical skills.  TempleTrip was invited to show at LuminariaSA and local events in her inaugural year and will continue to be enhanced and shown by the WomenWhoWeld and their team.
